A 23-year-old Ottawa man who fled a traffic stop on Highway 174 “at dangerous speeds” in December faces two criminal charges.
Police said in a release a neighbourhood resource officer was on duty when a white BMW was spotted committing several Highway Traffic Act infractions.
“When police attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and fled at dangerous speeds, weaving between vehicles and using the bus lane at speeds exceeding 145 km/h,” police said.
The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby.
The driver was identified after investigation and arrested on Dec. 31.
He was charged with dangerous driving and failure to stop for police.
