The Ontario Provincial Police have added child pornography charges against a 27-year-old Embrun man arrested Aug. 29 after reports that a recording camera had been found at a North Grenville daycare.
The daycare centre was not being publicly identified.
After the arrest, the
Grenville OPP
crime unit conducted a search that led to the seizure of “hundreds of inappropriate video clips of adults, as well as children,” the OPP said in a release Friday.
Daniel Morash, 27 of Embrun, has now been charged with:
- Possession of child pornography
- Access child pornography
- Mischief — obstructs, interrupts or interferes in the use of property
These charges are in addition to an earlier charge of voyeurism.
OPP said the accused was released from custody “on strict conditions” following a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Oct. 3.
As part of the investigation, officers are working to identify victims seen in the video clips.
OPP said later on social media that, “Information is being shared with all parents at the facility, and investigators will be reaching out to identified victims.
“We understand that this matter is concerning and upsetting for those whose children may have been impacted,” the OPP said.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the Grenville County detachment of the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E25112666.
