Provincial police have charged an 82-year-old Embrun man with criminal charges following what was termed a “historical sexual assault investigation.”
In a release, Russell County OPP said an investigation was launched in September following allegations of sexual assault involving two victims that reportedly occurred in 2005 and 2011 in Embrun and nearby communities.
Following the investigation, Maurice Lemieux, 82, of Embrun, was charged under the Criminal Code with three counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual exploitation.
Lemieux was also charged with two counts of sexual assault on a person under the age of 16 and one charge of invitation to sexual touching on a person under the age of 16.
Lemieux was arraigned and released by a Justice of the Peace after a bail hearing.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in l’Orignal, Ont. on Jan. 7, 2026.
