The Toronto Police Service (TPS) is investigating after evidence of gunfire was discovered overnight at a Jewish elementary school in North York.

TPS officers were notified of a firearm discharge at Bais Chaya Mushka School for Girls, located in the Sheppard Avenue West and Chesswood Drive area, just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday.

Police said no injuries were reported.

The Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force is investigating, and the Hate Crime Unit has been made aware of the incident.

The all-girls elementary school has been the target of similar shootings in the past, just recently in October. Two arrests were made, including a 17-year-old youth.

A separate shooting incident at Bais Chaya Mushka School for Girls was reported to the police in May. Surveillance footage from that incident showed a dark-coloured vehicle pulling up in front of the school at around 4:50 a.m. on May 25. No injuries were reported in either case.

The rash of gunfire led Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Mayor Olivia Chow to strongly condemn the acts of violence.
