‘Serious’ fire Saturday night severely damages a number of residences on Lyon Street South and Fourth Avenue in the Glebe district.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., “multiple” 911 callers reported a “
big fire” with visible flames at a number of homes.
A “working fire” was declared at 10:40 p.m. to bring additional resources to the scene.
A second and third alarm quickly followed.
Firefighters searching for occupants had to deal with hazards, including live hydro lines. There was no report of any residents inside the homes.
The fire was declared under control at 11:09 p.m.
There were no reported injuries.
Victim services members were dispatched and an Ottawa Fire Services investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
A “fire watch” was set up to monitor any flare-ups.
