Ottawa firefighters controlled a smoky residential fire Sunday in the 700 block of Cummings Avenue in the east end,
Initial reports indicated black smoke was visible through basement windows in the townhouse.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that there was smoke at the front door, and black smoke showing from the back of the building going up to the second level.
Additional resources were summoned.
Firefighters completed two full searches of the structure and no occupants were found inside.
The fire was under control at 10:40 a.m.
A fire service investigator was assigned to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
There were no injuries reported.
