It’s pretty unlikely that the good folks at Dutch-based Holmatro designed their battery-operated specialty saw to rescue kittens in trouble.

But the Dolmatro folks never met a tiny kitten named “Cheesecake” that found itself in a headlock inside an automobile wheel rim Friday afternoon.

Ottawa firefighters (who else?) were called to the scene just before 1 p.m. Friday. According to an online video, the tiny animal seemed pretty chill with its conundrum, but was more than ready to get out.

The cat’s owners had tried to use a soapy

liquid to soapy liquid to squeeze that animal out the way it got in.

No luck.

The rescue experts had to bring out the special gear.

They brought in the battery powered cutter to cut the wheel from the centre hole to the large holes on the outer part of the rim.

The firefighters were able to form and remove a wedge-shaped section from the rim to free Cheesecake.

The cat had no apparent injuries.

Of course.
