First snow warning issued for the 2025 season

It’s here, again.

The weather office has issued a snowfall warning for the capital region with a 30-per cent chance of flurries beginning Sunday morning.

The real show should arrive about noon, with about five centimetres expected.

The wind is expected to pick up, coming out of the northeast at about 20 km/h, gusting to 40  km/h through the morning.

Temperatures should be comparatively reasonable, with a high of -1 C expected, although wind gusts could make it feel like –

8 at times, so bundle up.

Things are expected to get rougher this evening.

Environment Canada’s looking for more snow, mixed with ice pellets, for a total amount of five to 10 cm.

The wind factor could make the expected low of -3 C feel like -9 at times, so stay covered up.

Monday looks like more of the same, with a 40-per-cent chance of flurries and a high near zero. The wind should hit 20 km/h in the morning, becoming lighter in the afternoon.

Expect a wind chill effect of -9 in the morning, with an expected high of 0 C through the day.
