A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the Ottawa and Gatineau regions on Saturday.
The advisories posted by
Environment Canada
on Friday projected between 20 and 40 millimetres of rain, a situation that would be complicated by the ground’s limited ability to absorb further moisture following other recent rainfall events.
According to the weather agency, a Colorado low-pressure system was expected to bring rain to the national capital region starting Saturday afternoon, but the heaviest precipitation was forecast for the evening and overnight.
Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas, and visibility will likely be reduced at times, Environment Canada said, adding that thunderstorms were possible in some area.
