NEW YORK — A judge dismissed Justin Baldoni’s lawsuits against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and the New York Times on Monday.
Baldoni and his Wayfair production company were countersuing the actors for $400 million and the New York Times for $250 million for defamation, claiming an article about the production of “It Ends With Us,” which Lively starred in and the couple produced. The article details Baldoni’s alleged sexual harassment and retaliation against Lively.
He argued the article amounted to a smear campaign.
Baldoni filed a motion to have Lively’s original lawsuit dismissed, but a ruling has not been made.
“The Times reviewed the available evidence and reported, perhaps in a dramatized manner, what it believed to have happened,” Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled, according to TMZ. “The Times had no obvious motive to favor Lively’s version of events.”
Baldoni has until June 23 to decide whether or not to amend the claims for breach of implied covenant and tortious interference with contract, according to People.
A trial for Lively’s suit is scheduled for March 2026.
