Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was spotted sharing a meal with pop superstar Katy Perry at a restaurant in Montreal on Monday evening, according to celebrity news outlet TMZ.
Photos captured Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 40, in conversation at Le Violon, a popular new fine dining restaurant in Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood.
Perry is currently on tour in support of her recent album, “143,” and is set to perform in Ottawa on Tuesday and in Montreal on Wednesday. Known for smash hits like “Teenage Dream” and “Firework,” Perry is one of the bestselling musical artists of all-time.
Le Violon did not immediately respond to the Star’s request for comment. Neither Perry nor Trudeau could be reached for comment.
The TMZ photos show Trudeau and Perry sitting side-by-side and talking. The article cites an eyewitness who told the outlet that “the two sipped cocktails and shared several dishes … including one with lobster.”
Trudeau, a former Liberal leader, resigned as prime minister in March after nine years in power. He separated from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, his wife of 18 years, in the summer of 2023.
The former PM recently attended King Charles’ III throne speech wearing bright green and orange Adidas Gazelle running shoes, sparking memes and reaction from the internet.
Perry recently split from actor Orlando Bloom after a seven-year relationship. They share a four-year-old daughter.
Le Violon, located on Rue Marquette, was recently named the best new Canadian restaurant by “Canada’s 100 Best,” a magazine owned an operated by veteran food writer Jacob Richler. The magazine also named it the 11th best restaurant in Canada. The 50-seat restaurant is run by chefs Danny Smiles and Mitch Laughren.
