I’m generally a happy, smiley guy who’s curious about people and the world around us. I’m a pilot, and I’ve lived in many locations around the world, and can speak English, Portuguese, French and Spanish. I’m very open to trying new places and seeing new things. I’m not a vegetarian and I’ll eat anything!
But, as a pilot, I’m also away over half of the month, which can be difficult for some folks. Since I’m away a lot for work, I like to be cozy at home when I’m in town.
I’m a non-drinker, non-smoker, and don’t use any drugs, but I’m very gregarious and social one-on-one. I can, however, get a little shy in group settings, especially when I don’t know the other people in the group. I love learning from other people and hearing their life stories, but I also need my solo downtime where I can recharge by listening to music and watching movies and sports. I love walking and hiking, but nothing backcountry!
I like to talk and, most importantly, I like to listen. Communication is very important to me: I like to ask questions to dig deeper. I consider myself a hopeless romantic and a passionate person, when the time is right.
I’ve been divorced since 2011 and I’ve dated several people since then, but I haven’t been involved with anyone on a regular basis since 2019. I find dating in Toronto very hard: I like to meet people organically and say hi in person, but folks here seem to find the direct approach weird or off-putting.
To me, a dream relationship is not a Hollywood-style idealized fantasy; most of life is mundane, whether it’s work or chores. I’m looking for someone who can be with you through those mundane days and savour the special ones.
I’d like a partner who has raised kids of her own because to me, as a father of two grown kids, there’s a certain understanding and perspective that comes from doing things for others for a long period of time that can be hard for people who haven’t raised children to grasp.
It would be nice if the person was born or raised in a different country as I find that sometimes creates a special outlook or perspective when they’ve experienced life in a country other than Canada. I’d love someone with a curiosity for the world — someone who wants to ask more questions and learn. It’d be a nice bonus if they love music, too, like me.
I’m not looking for one-night stands or casual encounters. And I’m not interested in people who don’t have the integrity to face others directly and choose to just blame, ignore or ghost.
I wanted to take part in this series because, after five years out of the dating scene, it’s time to get back out there. I dislike the concept of dating apps and struggled to find an alternative solution until this popped up. Instead of judging people by appearance and an arbitrary checklist, now I’m hoping to connect with someone on a deeper level. I’m ready. Are you?”
