Lost your earbuds? You may have info for Ottawa police about an unsolved homicide

Ottawa police want to speak with a person who may have lost earbud listening devices near St. Laurent Boulevard on or about Oct. 2, saying the request was made in connection with a stabbing death in that area.

Justin James Weir, 55, was found with apparent stab wounds near a building at 500 St. Laurent Blvd. early on Oct. 2. He was pronounced dead in a hospital.

The Ottawa Police Service said in a release on Oct. 28 that the earbud case was dark blue and bore the ONN brand on its exterior, and one of the two earbuds was missing. They were lost and found near St. Laurent between Montreal Road and Brittany Drive on or about Oct. 2.

Police also said that a person of interest in the case featured in an Oct. 7 statement had not yet been identified.

Anyone with information about the lost earbuds, the person of interest of the case was asked to contact the OPS Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
