Man, 72, charged in alleged hit-and-run in Mississauga

A 72-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run that seriously injured another man.

Peel police say the victim was crossing the street at 5:25 p.m. near Creditview Road south of Eglinton Avenue West in Mississauga, when he was struck by a driver in a white SUV on Nov. 8.

The driver of the Honda briefly stopped and then allegedly fled from the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to a trauma centre. After a thorough investigation, the suspect vehicle and driver were identified.

On Dec. 3, Theodoros Diamantouros of Mississauga was arrested and charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
