A man from Toronto has been charged with attempted murder in Brampton, where a victim was shot multiple times in what authorities believe was a case of mistaken identity.
Peel Regional Police said the daylight shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2024, in the area of Inder Heights Drive and Mayfield Road.
The suspect was in a stolen vehicle at the time. The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a trauma centre, where he was treated for his life-altering injuries and is in stable condition.
Investigators believe that this incident is a case of mistaken identity.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Hakeem Thomas of Toronto. On Jan. 3, 2025, he was arrested and faces several charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, attempted murder using a firearm, and discharging a firearm with intent, among other related offences.
