The
Ottawa Police Service
is investigating after a man was found with gunshot wounds at a rooming house in Centretown early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at a residence on Somerset Street West just west of Bay Street at about 1:34 a.m. The man was stabilized by paramedics before being taken to hospital in critical condition, Ottawa Paramedic Service public information officer Marc-Antoine Deschamps said.
The residence was taped off on Wednesday morning, and several police officers could be seen coming in and out.
A police officer at the scene did not provide information about the incident when asked.
Maeghan McGaraughty with the Ottawa Police Service said officers are still investigating but provided no further details.
No one is in custody at this time.
She said anyone with information or video footage is asked to call the OPS Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.
