A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with minor injuries following a house fire in the city’s Rideauview neighbourhood Saturday evening.
Firefighters were called just after 5 p.m. when several 911 calls reported black smoke and flames visible at a single-family home in the 1400 block of Claymor Avenue.
Firefighters arriving on scene confirmed flames were visible on the
back porch.
While a hose line was inserted into structure, firefighters conducted two searches searching for occupants who might be trapped.
No occupants were found inside and the fire was declared under control at 5:17 p.m.
Victim Services personnel were dispatched, as was an Ottawa Fire Services investigator to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
