First responders were able to rescue a man trapped at an apartment fire Saturday night on Eccles Street in the Somerset ward.
A 911 call was received at about 8:50 p.m. reporting a fire on the main level of a multi-unit residential low-rise.
Crews arriving at the scene confirmed that flames were visible and additional crews and equipment were dispatched.
Firefighters searching the scene located a victim shortly after 9 p.m. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The fire was declared under control just after 9 p.m.
Victim services personnel were dispatched and a fire services investigator has been assigned.
