A man and a woman are facing charges after a young person was allegedly sexually assaulted in Welland.
Niagara Regional Police say 26-year-old James Turner and 30-year-old Amanda Fobert are in custody after detectives with the Child Abuse Unit began an investigation earlier this month.
Both Turner and Fobert are facing charges of sexual assault on a person under the age of 16, sexual interference with a person under the age of 16, and invitation to sexual touching on a person under the age of 16. Turner has also been charged with criminal harassment.
Police did not release any details on the circumstances that led up to the investigation or if there is a relationship with the child involved in the alleged abuse.
Investigators did say they suspect there may be other victims and they are asking anyone with information to contact police.
