Provincial police have arrested two men who are accused of committing 19 robberies in the town of Collingwood.
Investigators say the two men allegedly stole several items from unlocked vehicles in the area between December 24 and the 26, including gift cards, cash, bank cards and tools.
The men are also accused of stealing a vehicle and using stolen cards to pay for fuel.
With the help of the public, police say they were able to identify the men and place them under arrest. One suspect allegedly fled on foot and assaulted an officer during his arrest, but the officer was not injured.
The second suspect was taken into custody without incident.
In total, the two men are facing 37 criminal charges, including theft under $5,000, taking a motor vehicle without consent, use of credit card, possession of property and proceeds obtained by crime, assaulting a police officer and flight from police.
The suspects have been identified as 33-year-old Richard Asselstine of Orillia and 30-year-old William Cook of Collingwood.
Both men were held in custody for a bail hearing on December 27.
No other details were released.
