Mike Myers closed off Saturday Night Live’s 50th season last night while wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs shirt ahead of the team’s seventh game showdown against the Florida Panthers.
The Scarborough native and long-time hockey fan wore the Leafs shirt during the last episode’s closing credits.
He then turned his back to the camera to reveal the words “support your local hockey team” written across the back.
During the episode — which was hosted by Scarlett Johansson with Bad Bunny as musical guest — Myers appeared in a sketch where he portrayed himself stuck in an elevator with a parodied Kanye West played by Kenan Thompson.
Myers has used graphic t-shirts in the past to make statements during the late-night comedy show’s closing credits.
In early March, Myers closed off an episode while pointing to his shirt with a large Canadian flag and the words “Canada is not for sale” printed across it. He also mouthed the words “elbows up” while moving his elbow in the air. He repeated the actions during the show’s closing credits a week later.
The gesture was seemingly his stance on U.S. President Donald Trump’s quips about making Canada the 51st state.
The actor and comedian also appeared in an ultra-Canadian, hockey themed campaign video for Prime Minister Mark Carney where he revealed a the words “Never 51” on the back of his jersey.
The Leafs are set to face the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday to settle a 3-3 tie in the second series of the 2025 Stanley cup playoffs.
