More than 300,000 vehicles manufactured by Ford have been recalled over electrical concerns with the engine, according to Transport Canada.
A pair of recall notices, which were first issued earlier in January and subsequently updated, include the following Ford and Lincoln models:
- Ford Escape from 2013 to 2022
- Ford Focus from 2013 to 2018
- Lincoln MKC from 2015 to 2019
- Ford Bronco from 2021 to 2024
- Ford Bronco Sport from 2021 to 2024
- Ford Explorer from 2016 to 2024
- Ford Maverick from 2022 to 2024
- Ford Ranger from 2019 to 2024
- Lincoln Corsair from 2020 to 2022
In both notices, Transport Canada said the engine block heater on certain vehicles could leak coolant. If that happens, the block heater may short circuit when it’s plugged in, creating the risk of a fire, Transport Canada warned.
The number of vehicles impacted totals more 332,000.
For vehicles under recall number 2026-005, Transport Canada said it replaces a past recall with the number 2025-554. Any vehicles that were repaired under that recall don’t require the prescribed repair.
According to notice 2026-004, only certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L engine are affected.
Ford will notify owners who are impacted by either of these recalls by mail. In the meantime, the manufacturer advises vehicle owners to not use the engine block heater, until the vehicle is taken to a dealership for repair.
