Motorcyclist killed in collision with car near Renfrew

A 57-year-old Ottawa motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a car Tuesday on Highway 60.

At about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, officers from the Renfrew OPP detachment responded to the collision in Horton Township, which resulted in the highway being temporarily closed in both directions from Butler Road to Cotieville Road.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist attended the crash scene, and the investigation continues, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision was asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca .

The crash occurred just outside Renfrew, about 100 kilometres west of Ottawa.
