A motorcyclist was seriously injured early Wednesday when his vehicle collided with a moose on Highway 17 between Petawawa and Chalk River.
The motorcyclist was first taken to a local hospital but, due to the severity of the injuries, was then airlifted by Ornge aircraft to an Ottawa hospital. The highway was closed, but has since reopened in both directions.
OPP
Const. Mike Mahon confirmed the moose was dispatched due to its injuries.
