This summer saw the launch of Taberna Lx, a new restaurant on Dundas Street West that brings the flavour and energy of modern Lisbon to Toronto. A collaboration between Kelly Amaral, chef Jonathan Poon and Paris Paris’s Gani Shquier, Taberna Lx draws on Amaral’s roots in Little Portugal, where her parents ran the community’s first Portuguese grocery store. Notable Portuguese Canadians, including Nelly Furtado, Shawn Desman and Melissa Grelo, attended the opening.
