If your weekend subway commute involves taking the Yonge-University line take note, there will be no service on a portion of the line below St. George and no shuttle buses to assist with the closure.
Stations along a three-kilometre stretch of the system from St. George to St. Andrew will be closed Saturday and Sunday for what the TTC says is scheduled track work and station upgrades.
The transit agency says due to traffic conditions, there will be no shuttle bus service along the affected surface routes on University Avenue.
For those travelling downtown on the University Avenue side, customers can take the 510 Spadina bus from Spadina Station and transfer to eastbound buses and streetcars at Wellesley Street, College Street, Dundas Street, Queen Street or King Street. For commuters on the Yonge Street side of the line, the same westbound services are available to take them to University Avenue.
“The TTC is increasing service on downtown surface routes to ensure customers have convenient transit options,” the TTC said in a release.
Extra Wheel-Trans vehicles will be available in the downtown core for anyone requiring an accessible connection.
Service is expected to resume Monday but the TTC says subway service between St Clair and Finch stations on Line 1 will end at 11 p.m. from Feb. 3 to Feb. 6 to accommodate planned track work. Shuttle buses will be running during this closure.
The TTC recently warned customers that there would be more full weekend subway line closures and earlier weeknight suspension of service to carry out necessary repair and upgrade projects across the system in 2025.
