One person is dead following a collision on Highway 17 near Renfrew on Wednesday.
Highway 17 was closed between Storyland Road and Bruce Street after the crash, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a social-media post late Wednesday morning. They said motorists should expect a lengthy road closure and plan alternate routes to get to their destinations.
At the time, police only reported that “serious injuries” had occurred, but in an update two hours later they confirmed one person had died. No other details about the victim or the collision were shared at that time.
The investigation was ongoing, police said.
