TORONTO – Ontario Power Generation’s former CEO is at the top of the list of high-earning public servants for the year after he retired.
Ken Hartwick retired at the end of 2024, a year in which he earned more than $2 million, but Ontario’s public sector salary disclosure — the so-called Sunshine List — shows he earned $1.9 million in 2025 as a special adviser to OPG.
Its current president and CEO Nicolle Butcher earned $1.6 million last year.
The list sets out the names and positions of people working in government and the broader public sector who earn more than $100,000, an amount that has not changed since 1996 and would be equal to about $185,000 in 2025 dollars.
There are more than 404,000 names on the latest list released Friday, up from about 377,000 last year.
Other OPG executives and hospital presidents round out the top 10.
