OPP investigators at the scene of a fatal shooting on Vimy Boulevard South in Renfrew on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Two years to the day after 41-year-old Jonathan Logan was shot to death in Renfrew, the OPP reached out to the public for help.

Police, in a news release Monday, said investigators believe the homicide “can be solved if someone with key information comes forward to help identify the person responsible.”

Police believe Logan was targeted when, just before 10:30 p.m. on May 19, 2023, he was shot and killed at a home on Vimy Boulevard. The suspect remains at large, the release stated.

Anyone with information was asked to come forward, especially those who have not yet spoken to police or who may have new details to share. “Even a small piece of information could help solve this crime,” the OPP said.

Those with information were asked to call the Renfrew OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or ontariocrimestoppers.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000, the release stated.

Neighbours on Vimy Boulevard told the Ottawa Citizen a day after the shooting that it was common to see visibly intoxicated people and a steady flow of cars in the area, and to find drug paraphernalia on the street.

The neighbours said they did not hear a gunshot on the night Logan died, but said they saw the tenant of the unit on Vimy outside with his phone in his hand. The neighbours said they recognized the shooting victim and his girlfriend as friends of the tenant when they emerged from the unit.

When first responders took the victim away on a backboard, the girlfriend, according to neighbours, said, “Hurry up. He doesn’t have much longer.”
