The OPP are investigating after a three-year-old child drowned in Long Sault on Saturday evening.

At about 5:45 p.m., emergency services responded after receiving a call that a child at Mille Roches Beach had no vital signs, and that off-duty medical professionals were conducting resuscitation efforts.

Resuscitation attempts continued as the Cornwall-Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Paramedic Service rushed the child to hospital with an OPP escort.

The child was later pronounced dead, police said in a news release Sunday.

Anyone with information that could help the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP detachment in its investigation was asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Long Sault is located about 95 km south of Ottawa, near Cornwall.
