OPP looking for witnesses, video in suspected animal attack in Quadeville

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for witnesses or surveillance video as they investigate a suspected animal attack in Quadeville, Ont., which left a young child with “potentially life-threatening injuries.”

The child was first transported to the hospital and later to a regional trauma centre to recover from the injuries, the OPP said in a news release.

Investigators suspect the injuries to be caused by an animal attack, according to the news release, but further testing and analysis are required.

“As a precaution, parents in the Quadeville area should continue to keep their small children indoors or under close supervision,” the news release reads.

OPP officers responded to reports of a child found along Quadeville Road with serious injuries on June 24 at approximately 12:30 a.m.

The OPP is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources as the investigate the cause of the child’s injuries.

Quadeville is in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township, about 40 km southeast of Barry’s Bay, between Bancroft and Eganville.
