An early morning fire in the 1700 block of Orléans’ Belcourt Boulevard left a family at least temporarily displaced Sunday morning.

Firefighters received several calls at 9:30 a.m. reporting the garage at the single family bungalow “was fully engulfed in smoke and flames.”

After arriving, crews confirmed that there was heavy black smoke and flames visible, and that the fire had spread to the home.

A “working fire” call was made to dispatch additional resources to the scene.

The teams launched a “fast attack,” advancing a hose line into the structure.

Other teams began searching for any possible occupants. Two full searches found no occupants.

At about 10 a.m., firefighters were evacuated from the structure due to “dangerous conditions”.

The fire was declared under control at 11:09 a.m. and high-pressure fans were used to ventilate smoke from the structure.

The victim services unit was dispatched to the scene.

An Ottawa Fire Services investigator was sent to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The OFS did not mention any injuries.
