Ottawa firefighters managed to contain a bedroom fire early Monday at a single-family home on Normandy Crescent.

Ottawa Fire Services took a 911 call at 3:47 a.m. about the fire in the 1300 block of Normandy, with the initial caller stating that smoke was escaping from the bedroom and filling the rest of the house.

After crews arrived at the scene, additional resources were called to the location at 4 a.m. A “fast attack” was initiated and a hose line was advanced into the home, with the situation declared under control at 4:51 a.m.

Two searches of the home were conducted, but no one was found inside.

An Ottawa fire investigator was sent to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
