One person sustained minor injuries and was extricated from their vehicle after a Christmas morning collision in Barrhaven.

Ottawa Fire Services said police called them to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive shortly after 7 a.m.

Firefighters used extrication tools to open the door and remove an occupant who was trapped inside one of the vehicles. The extrication process started shortly after 7:21 a.m., according to a news release, and took roughly nine minutes to complete.

An Ottawa paramedics spokesperson said the occupant stuck in their vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a trauma centre. A second individual refused treatment on scene, the spokesperson added.

Paramedics said the ambulance left the scene at 7:53 a.m.

Police could not be reached in time for publication to confirm if any road closures were in effect.
