Mayor Mark Sutcliffe held face-to-face meetings with Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford this week to discuss “mutual priorities,” according to the mayor’s social-media posts.
Sutcliffe posted to his Bluesky social-media profile on June 5 that he had met with Ford the previous day at Queen’s Park in Toronto, where he discussed “housing, transit, public safety and how to improve Ottawa’s economy.”
Sutcliffe shared several photos of his meeting with Ford and with Education Minister Paul Calandra and Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response Jill Dunlop.
“I’ll keep working hard to advocate for our city at every level of government,” Sutcliffe said.
Sutcliffe posted another message thanking Carney for a meeting in Ottawa on June 5 and noting Carney’s dual role as prime minister and as MP for the riding of Nepean.
Sutcliffe thanked Carney “for a very productive discussion today about our shared commitment to Ottawa and our mutual priorities. It’s great to have the PM’s support for our ‘Shop Local. Buy Canadian’ campaign.”
Carney posted to Bluesky around the same time with a photo of his meeting with Sutcliffe.
“We’re going to build big things, make our city safer, and bring down the cost of living for the people of Ottawa, together,” Carney stated.
