Ottawa police say charges have been laid in the April 6 murder of 20-year-old Mahad Elmi.
Osman Yare, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
Police received reports of shots fired just after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning in the 300 block of Craig Henry Drive. Two victims were taken to hospital, where Elmi died. Another 21-year-old man had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police had released a photo of a “vehicle of interest” and later thanked the public for assistance, saying the car had been identified.
