Ottawa police respond to bank robbery on Main Street

Ottawa police said they responded to a robbery at a financial institution on Main Street on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the scene on Main Street near Highway 417 shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning for reports of a robbery in progress.

A Scotiabank building on the corner of Main Street and Hawthorne Avenue was taped off as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“There was no known threat to public safety, and no injuries were reported to officers on scene,” police continued.

No suspects are believed to be in custody at this time, according to a police spokesperson.

Road closures were in effect in the morning, but police said the operation has since concluded.
