Ottawa police are seeking public assistance for further information after a 34-year-old Ottawa man was charged with human trafficking offences beginning in May 2022 to this month.

The force’s human trafficking unit began an investigation in November, 2025.

In a release, police said Christopher Exume has been charged with trafficking in persons; procuring, advertising another person for sexual services; and sexual assault and sexual interference.

He remains in custody.

“Investigators believe that there are other victims of human trafficking related to this investigation,” police said in a release.

“Considering victims may not know the legal name of their offender, Exume is alleged to have used the alias of ‘Z’ and ‘Zo,’” police said.

Police also took “the extra step” of publicly releasing a photo of the accused.

The Ottawa Police Service charged 34-year-old Christopher Exume with human trafficking-related offences. Police believe there may be other victims.

The Human Trafficking Unit “will respect victims’ wishes whether to pursue criminal charges,” and regardless, can offer resources to support survivors of human trafficking.
