It looks like summer weather is settling in in the capital.

And, as is often the case in these parts, it’s good news and not so good news.

For instance, the Environment Canada forecast for the capital for Wednesday is bright sunshine through the day, with temperatures hitting a balmy high of about 26 C.

So far, so good.

But conditions are expected to become a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon, with a high of 26, with a humidex “feels like” rating of 27. The UV index is expected to be 8, or very high.

And Wednesday night’s looking mainly cloudy, with a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the evening and overnight. There are more showers expected by Thursday morning, and the daily low is expected to be 13 C.

The outlook gets a little disappointing beginning Thursday, with showers and winds of about 20 km/h late in the afternoon. The high is expected to be 18 C.

Cloudy skies will continue through the evening with a 40 per cent chance of showers, and an un-summery low of 12 C.

Conditions are basically expected to be the same for Friday, with a high of 21 C under mainly cloudy skies and a 30 per cent chance of showers. The risk of showers rises to 40 per cent, and the low is expected to be 11 C.

Meanwhile, in its summer seasonal forecast, the Weather Network does not expect “persistent or severe heat throughout the summer.”

“A warm and humid summer is expected across the region, including London, Toronto, and Ottawa,” the Weather Network says.

“Higher humidity is forecast to keep overnight temperatures significantly warmer than normal,” the report said.

But daytime highs “are expected to be near normal or just slightly above normal.”

Last summer, the average daytime high in Ottawa was 24.5 C in June, 26.9 C in July and 25.5 C in August.
