An Ottawa youth has been charged with child pornography offences after police received a tip from an “unknown user” on social media.
According to a Wednesday news release, police searched a home in Barrhaven and arrested a male youth for possessing and making child pornography.
Police said they also seized several electronic and media storage devices. The accused cannot be named due to a publication ban under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police said the Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE) was still investigating the case and the evidence at the scene.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Ottawa Police Service ICE unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5660, or email tips to [email protected].
