On Dec. 8 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Toronto, global humanitarian organization War Child Canada hosted its annual gala, “The World That’s Possible.” The event raised funds to support children and families in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hosted by longtime War Child partner and television personality Sangita Patel, the evening featured an acoustic performance by Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace, whose lead singer, Raine Maida, received the War Child’s Founders Award. Maida, who has been involved with War Child for more than 20 years, recently returned from Afghanistan with War Child Canada founder Dr. Samantha Nutt.
