A pedestrian was left in critical condition after a vehicle mounted the sidewalk and hit them Thursday evening.
Paramedics received a call at about 7:15 p.m. about a woman hit by a vehicle on George Street near Sussex.
The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police said the injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. No one else was assessed at the scene.
Police said that no charges were immediately laid. “At this time, there is no indication of criminality, and the collision remains under investigation,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
Police blocked off the road until a little after 10 p.m., police said on the social media site X.
