One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday on Highway 401 between Mallorytown and Lansdowne.
At about 5:30 a.m., the Leeds County OPP detachment received reports that a person who had exited their parked vehicle on the shoulder of the 401 had been struck and killed by a moving vehicle.
The person who died in the collision has been identified, but their name is not being released to safeguard the privacy of the grieving family, police said. A postmortem examination has been ordered.
The OPP are investigating in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
