A 39-year-old snowplow operator faces impaired driving charges after crashing into an Ottawa Police Services vehicle at 4 a.m. on Rideau Street.

Police said in a social message the driver, who was not identified, registered four times the legal limit.

No injuries were mentioned and the crash site was not identified.

Police said only the driver was employed by a private contractor.

Four times the legal limit of 0.08 would indicate a potentially lethal alcohol-blood content of 0.32 per cent.

Medical authorities say a person at this level is at risk of passing out, or coma, although tolerance has to be factored in.
