A Toronto police officer is in hospital after a driver took off in the middle of a traffic stop in Scarborough.
Police say officers were conducting a vehicle stop at Midland and Lawrence avenues around 3:30 p.m. after a black BMW allegedly ran a stop sign in a school zone.
During the investigation, it was determined the driver was allegedly breaching his release conditions.
When an arrest was attempted, the suspect allegedly placed the vehicle in drive and dragged one of the officers a short distance, fleeing the area.
The officer has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jerome Fitzroy Morgan, 37, of Toronto, is wanted for Assault with a Weapon, Failing to Remain, and Failing to Comply with Conditions.
The suspect vehicle is described as a 2011 four-door black BMW with Ontario licence plate CXFS 615.
