In a release, OPP said the 49-year-old inmate was found shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday “in medical distress in his cell.”

The man was transported to a local hospital, then airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto.

The man was pronounced dead on Saturday.

“A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” police said.
