Police in Peel Region have recovered the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that critically injured a woman in her 20s.

Just before midnight on January 14, the woman was crossing Bristol Road West at Loonlake Avenue in Mississauga when she was struck by a black Honda SUV.

“As she was approximately halfway through that intersection on the green light, the suspect vehicle, which was travelling eastbound on Bristol Road, entered the intersection on a red light and struck the pedestrian on the road,” Cst. Richard Chin told CityNews.

Police say the driver fled the scene. The woman was taken to a trauma centre and remains in critical condition.

“A reasonable person would know that they struck this individual,” said Chin.

Four days later police located the suspect vehicle in the area of White Clover Way and Apple Blossom Circle. Investigators say upon further inspection it was clear that parts had been replaced and repairs completed on the vehicle.

“Police are seeking the assistance from dealerships, garages, scrap yards or parts retailers who may have sold parts or completed repairs on the black 2018 Honda CRV,” investigators said in a release on Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
