York Regional Police officers are searching for suspects and have shared images of a suspect vehicle after a man was shot several times in Markham in what authorities believe was a targeted incident.

Investigators were notified of a shooting just after 7:30 p.m. on March 18 in the area of Green Lane and Guardsman Road, near John Street and Willowbrook Road.

It’s alleged that a man left a business in the area when the suspect approached him. The suspect then shot the victim multiple times with a handgun. Police said the shooter then fled in a waiting Honda Civic being driven by a second suspect.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a stolen black 10th-generation Honda Civic featuring a red Supreme-brand tow strap on the front passenger side and a red and white “MUGEN” sticker on the upper passenger side of the windshield.

At the time of the shooting, police said it bore a blue and white Ontario licence plate, CMET480. Investigators believe the incident was targeted.

Investigators are seeking witnesses and anyone with video surveillance of the area or dashcam footage from nearby roadways at the time of the incident. Those who have not yet spoken to police are urged to come forward.
