Police seek help identifying suspects in downtown assault

Ottawa police are seeking the public’s help identifying up to five suspects who allegedly verbally harassed an individual downtown on April 12.

Police said the incident occurred between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. near the corner of Metcalfe Street and Laurier Avenue West.

When a bystander intervened, police said members of the group then physically assaulted that individual.

Police described the suspects as following:

  • The first suspect wore a face mask, dark clothing, grey shoes, black gloves, a scarf and a green baseball cap.
  • The second suspect wore sunglasses, dark pants with an orange top, grey shoes, a scarf and a green hat.
  • The third suspect wore a face mask, dark pants, a blue and black jacket with a hood and dark shoes.
  • The fourth suspect wore a face mask, black pants, a red jacket with a hoodie, a dark baseball cap, black gloves, and black shoes.
  • The fifth suspect wore a face mask, dark clothing, a scarf, sunglasses and brown shoes.
