Police are searching for a man after a woman was shot outside her Markham home in broad daylight.
Video released by York Regional Police shows a man dressed in a yellow reflective vest and a woman in a discussion outside the victim’s home in the Lee Avenue and Noble Street area around 5:30 p.m. on January 21.
Following a brief discussion the woman turns to return to the home when the man is seen pulling a gun and shooting the woman once from behind. Then, after several misfires, he fires two more times as the woman runs away. The suspect then scampers back to the dark-coloured Audi A4 sedan in which he arrives and flees the scene.
The woman, who was the one who called police, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
The suspect is described as an Asian male with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing the yellow reflective vest, a construction helmet, a dark-coloured hooded sweater, black pants and a medical mask.
“Investigators believe the incident is targeted and are appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Additionally, officers are seeking surveillance video or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the shooting,” police said in a release.
Police tell CityNews the suspect and victim were not known to one another and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
